Checklist Information
Start Packing, Valuable Items, Don't Pack

Start Packing
Pack one room at a time. Begin with a room that contains items that are seldom used such as the attic, storage shed, basement or garage. Be certain to have your notebook handy so you can transfer box numbers and their contents onto your inventory list for that room as you complete packing each box.

Take Pictures of Valuable Items
As you are packing have your camera handy to take pictures of any valuable items incase of damage during the move. You should consider having very valuable items appraised prior to the move. Make a list in your notebook of your valuable items and their replacement cost.

What Not to Pack and What to do with Not to Pack Items
It is dangerous and illegal to pack and move flammable and hazardous materials.
Call your local recycling pickup provider, fire station or the nearest Environmental Protection Agency office to learn how to properly dispose of flammable and hazardous materials before you move. Make a note in your notebook of the depot address, phone number and hours of operation if you have to make a trip to dispose of these materials yourself. Set a date about a week before your move day and mark it on your calendar.
