Have your Vehicle Serviced
If you are driving your own vehicle for a long distance move make arrangements to have it serviced. Make a note on your Don’t Forget list in your notebook. When you have scheduled a service date mark it on your calendar.

Children, Pets and Plants
Move day can be hectic enough without children and pets under foot. For their safety and your added peace of mind, make arrangements for them to stay with a friend, family member or sitter on the day of your move. As for your plants, the variables of your move must be considered. In the summer months heat from the sun can raise temperatures inside a closed moving van (rental truck also) to well over 150 degrees. Likewise in the winter months with temperatures well bellow the freezing mark. If you are moving a long distance the chance of your plants surviving the trip are not very good. Most moving companies will not allow live plants to be loaded into their vans. You may wish to consider moving the plants yourself or giving them away to friends or relatives. If you are moving across town make a separate trip with your plants using the rental truck or your car.
